Niels Beelaerts van Blokland studied Dutch law, majoring in company law, at Leiden University and was sworn in as a lawyer in 2006. He was previously affiliated to the Maaldrink Vermeulen Grooss Advocaten en Notarissen and the Grooss Advocaten law firms. In 2013, Niels formed his own law firm, Beelaerts Advocaten. On 1 August 2016 he joined Salomons van der Valk Advocaten and has worked for Salomons Beelaerts Advocaten since 1 January 2020.
In addition to civil law and company law cases, mr. Beelaerts frequently advises on and litigates in the fields of spatial planning law, environmental law, neighbours' statutory rights and obligations, tenancy law and the right of eminent domain. A large proportion of mr. Beelaerts' clients are active in real estate, including project developers, construction companies, estate agents and investment companies. mr. Beelaerts also regularly provides support for government bodies, private individuals and non-profit organisations.
He is a member of the Association of Construction Law Lawyers (Vereniging voor Bouwrecht-advocaten (VBR-A)). At the end of 2017 he graduated cum laude from the Grotius Real Estate specialisation course.
mr. Beelaerts has recorded the following primary (and sub-)fields of law in the legal fields register of the Netherlands Bar (Nederlandse orde van advocaten (NOvA)):
- General Practice, civil law
- Property law
On the basis of this registration, he is required to obtain ten training points per calendar year in each registered primary field of law, in accordance with the standards of the Netherlands Bar.
