Cassation
We can advise you on the possibilities of appealing to the Supreme Court against a negative judicial ruling handed down by a lower court and will, of course, support you in this. The Supreme Court of the Netherlands (in short: the Supreme Court) is the highest court in civil and criminal cases in the Netherlands, including the former Netherlands Antilles islands of Curaçao, Sint Maarten and Aruba. The Supreme Court is located in The Hague and is responsible for supervision of the unity and development of Dutch law.
Cassation is highly specialised work. It requires very thorough knowledge, not only of procedural law, but also of substantive law. Where necessary, we work closely with our correspondents. We act in cassation cases across the entire spectrum of civil cassation practice, from personal and family law, inheritance law and labour law to company law, property and tenancy law and pension law.
In addition, we have broad experience in handling appeals in cassation in relation to (investment) arbitration, such as annulment and revocation proceedings and permission to enforce (exequatur) proceedings.
Our clients include private individuals, companies, sectoral pension funds, banks, local authorities and sovereign states.
We also act in Dutch Caribbean cases.
