Ms mr. L.E. (Laura) Leunissen studied law at Leiden University and has been a lawyer since 1998. She originally worked in general advisory and procedural practice. In 2002, Laura became specialised in labour law. From 2005 onwards, Laura specialised in personal and family, followed by divorce mediation and inheritance law.
In family practice, emotional interests play a role, in addition to legal and commercial interests. Laura prefers to seek solutions for the problems that have arisen between (ex-)partners through mediation or through other ways to reach a settlement that enables both (ex-)partners and any children to move on with their lives as well as possible. Sometimes, an out-of-court settlement within a reasonable term proves to be impossible. In that case, litigation will be necessary. You can then rely on Laura’s expertise too.
Laura has thorough specialised knowledge and a great deal of experience in the field of personal and family law and inheritance law, with regard to both advice and litigation. In complex disputes too, Laura will investigate the possibilities for practical solutions with you.
Laura's current specialisations lie in personal and family law, in a broad sense, inheritance and (divorce) mediation. She has successfully completed the following courses:
- Inheritance law, Leiden University
- vFAS Mediation Basic and Specialisation Course
- vFAS Family Law Specialisation Course
- Labour Law Specialisation Course, Grotius Academy
- Professional Training for the Legal Profession
Laura is a member of vFAS, of the Netherlands Association of Inheritance Lawyers ('Vereniging Erfrecht Advocaten Nederland (VEAN)') and of the Netherlands Organisation for Executors ('Nederlandse Organsatie voor Executeurs (NOVEX)').
Laura has recorded the following primary (and sub-)fields of law in the legal fields register of the Netherlands Bar:
- Personal and Family law
- Inheritance law
On the basis of this registration, she is required to obtain ten training points per calendar year in each registered primary field of law, in accordance with the standards of the Netherlands Bar.
