Ms mr. M.L. (Maartje) Wierstra studied at the Free University of Amsterdam and the University of Utrecht, where she obtained a Master's degree in private law (majoring in family law) and criminal law. During her course, she gained experience in the legal profession during training placements, both in and outside the Netherlands. Maartje was sworn in as a lawyer in 2012 and worked at the Maaldrink Vermeulen Grooss Advocaten en Notarissen law firm, followed by Beelaerts Advocaten. After having worked for more than three years at Salomons Van der Valk Advocaten, she has practised at Salomons Beelaerts Advocaten since 1 January 2020.
Maartje is specialised in personal and family law. She has a varied practice and advises and litigates on divorces and other separation cases and on related matters, including matters in the fields of custody, shared care and upbringing of children and alimony. She also supports clients as a mediator in these matters.
In addition, Maartje is specialised in criminal law. She handles various criminal cases, concerning matters such as theft, (domestic) violence, traffic offences, vice and homicides.
Maartje is a member of the Association of Family Lawyers and Divorce Mediators of the Association of Criminal Lawyers in The Hague.
She is driven and result-oriented. Her experience and honesty ensure her clients of optimal support.
Maartje has recorded the following primary (and sub-)fields of law in the legal fields register of the Netherlands Bar:

On the basis of this registration, she is required to obtain ten training points per calendar year in each registered primary field of law, in accordance with the standards of the Netherlands Bar.
